I ordered an Evil Pipe barrel kit for my 98C ACT and the threads don't line up. If I take the halves apart and very lightly screw in the barrel to one of the sides it seems to work, more so on the side that does not hold the valve for some reason. Any ideas? I heard from Pbnation to lighten up the screws but that did not work and I heard to sand away the threading but I want to avoid doing that if possible. And first post in Tippmann section!

If I remember correctly at some point Tippmann changed the threads on the 98c so they are slightly different from the original threads that the Model 98 had. I'd have look up the difference but I know a few people had problems with older barrels on the newer thread type or vice-versa.

yes, the threads were changed about 455,000 or so. the new barrels can be used on older guns, but not vice versa. Lapco does offer a simple adapter, adds maybe 1 inch to the total length for the barrel. so you aren't totally lost with the barrel.

Thanks guys. I called the company and they called the Tippmann tech who said to lighten the screws up by the barrel. I lightened up the screws again and used some force and the barrel went in. So now I get to use my new barrel kit! I am going up to my Grandparents property tomorrow so I will get to shoot it around and hopefully go to a field in the next few weeks.

Lapco also makes an Old M98 to New M98 thread adapter. We sell it.
