This season has been a rollercoaster of epic victories and heartbreaking defeats, and this week’s matchup between Burns and Greene Central is no exception. Fans, brace yourselves for a thrilling battle on the diamond in Raleigh.

Burns Bulldogs

The Bulldogs have been nothing short of spectacular this season, boasting a 31-1 overall record and securing the 11th spot in North Carolina’s rankings.

Recent Game Overview

In the regionals, Burns faced a fierce challenge from East Rutherford. The third game of the series started rough for the Bulldogs, with East Rutherford exploding out of the gate to score five runs by the third inning. But Burns didn’t flinch. Hagan Hoyle ignited the offense with a triple, sending Jackson Toney home for the Bulldogs’ first score. Next up, Ethan Guy matched Hoyle with another triple, bringing Hoyle in and then scoring himself on the throw, closing the gap to 5-3. Burns kept the pressure on, tying the game with a bases-loaded situation where Mackall was hit by a pitch and McGowan was walked. Colby Putnam then delivered a clutch double, driving in Gabriel Holiday, Mackall, and McGowan to clinch an 8-5 victory over East Rutherford.

Greene Central Rams

The Rams, ranked 3rd in the state, have had an outstanding season with a 27-1 record.

Recent Game Overview

Facing Whiteville in the regionals, the Rams were locked in a 1-1 tie through four innings. The 5th inning, however, saw Greene Central explode for five runs, setting the stage for victory. Riley Radford was the catalyst, going 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, and a double, electrifying both the crowd and his teammates. Radford also dominated on the mound, pitching over six innings without allowing an earned run. Easton Creech contributed significantly, scoring two runs and going 2-for-4, while Braden Burress added two runs and a stolen base, reaching base in three of his four plate appearances.
