The Mustangs Seniors Lead The Way To Victory
East Rowan (21-1) who is currently 4th in the County Sports Power Ranking's, and 6th in the state, sealed their 15th blowout victory of the season on Friday, dominating the Central Cabarrus Vikings (4-14) with an 8-1 win. This victory marked East Rowan's impressive 14th consecutive win.
Seniors Nate Hayworth and Logan Dyer were instrumental both on the mound and at the plate. Hayworth pitched 2 innings, not allowing any earned runs or hits, while also scoring a run, stealing 2 bases, and reaching base in 3 of his 4 plate appearances. Dyer was equally impressive, giving up just 2 hits and no earned runs over 4 innings pitched. Additionally, he scored 2 runs, stole 2 bases, and went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Their stellar performances were complemented by a strong hitting display, with 5 players recording at least 1 hit. Senior Cobb Hightower, contributed 2 runs, reached base 3 times in his 4 plate appearances.While only being a sophomore, Harrison Ailshie also played a vital role, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base and 2 RBI.
East Rowan extended their record to an impressive 21-1, maintaining their 19-game winning streak at home dating back to last season. Meanwhile, Central Cabarrus continued to struggle, losing 5 of their last 6 games and bringing their season record to 4-14.
East Rowan will face Carson on the road at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in what promises to be a close contest, with both teams allowing few runs on average. Meanwhile, Central Cabarrus will play Lake Norman Charter at home at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, hoping to improve their defense after conceding an average of 6.7 runs per game this season.
