East Rowan Secures A Spot In The State Finals

East Rowan (32-2) extended their postseason success on Friday in the regional finals of the 2024 3A NCHSAA state championships with a solid 6-3 victory over the Tuscola Mountaineers (22-7). This win marking back-to-back victories for East Rowan.
Senior standout Joe Burleyson pitched a notable game, surrendering 3 earned runs on 3 hits over 7 innings, showcasing his reliability on the mound. Burleyson saw his opportunity this season and ran with it, earning a batting average of .143, an on base percentage of .284, a fielding percentage of .996, and the cherry on top, a slugging percentage of .286.
Sophomore Harrison Ailshie led the charge at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, 4 RBI's, and 2 runs scored. This sophomore has been nothing short of a powerhouse for East Rowan, batting an average of .417, earning a fielding percentage of 1.000, and clocking in an on base percentage of .259. Senior McCall Henderson also contributed significantly, hitting 1-for-2 with a home run and 2 RBI.
The win improved East Rowan's record to an impressive 32-2. Meanwhile, Tuscola's loss ended their 3 game away winning streak, dropping their record to 22-7. East Rowan is set to face off South Central on Friday at 5pm in Ting Stadium
