East Wilkes Dominates Northside To Become State Champions

On Saturday East Wilkes (28-3) faced Northside-Pinetown (21-5) in a showdown between two of the state's top teams. The East Wilkes Cardinals emerged victorious in a tight contest, edging out the Northside-Pinetown Panthers 7-5. This win extends East Wilkes' streak to 11 consecutive victories.


On East Wilkes side, senior Abby Hatley has become a dominant force for the cardinals. She has piled up a batting average of .667, an on base percentage of .750, a slugging percentage of 1.000, and an impressive fielding percentage of 1.000.



Despite the loss, Northside-Pinetown had standout performances. Senior Megan Hopkins shined, going 1-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Another senior who also made significant contributions is Jorden Clark, scoring a run and going 2-for-3.



This victory marked East Wilkes' third straight win on the road, improving their record to 28-3. On the other hand, Northside-Pinetown saw their impressive 20-game home winning streak come to an end, dropping their record to 21-5.
