James Wellons Puts on a Show

Eastern Alamance (9-15) effortlessly translated their regular season success into the first round of the 3A NCHSAA playoffs with a commanding 13-8 victory over Southern Alamance (15-7). This remarkable turnaround came after a less impressive 2 run performance in their previous game.

Sophomores James Wellons and Tyler Westbrooks were instrumental for Eastern Alamance in the outfield. Wellons showcased his speed with 2 runs and a stolen base, going 2-for-3, while Westbrooks contributed 3 runs and reached base in 3 of his 5 plate appearances.

Freshman Braxton Ballard also played a crucial role in scoring a run. While only being a frehman on varsity, Ballard has been nothing short of amazing. He's been consistantly averaging an on base percentage of .392, a batting average of .274, and a fielding average of .952.

This victory elevated Eastern Alamance's record to 9-15, while Southern Alamance's 5 game winning streak at home came to an end, leaving them with a 15-7 record.

Eastern Alamance will face off against 12 seed Orange in hopes of making it another round into the 3A NCHSAA playoffs. Unfortunately Southern Alamance's season has came to an end after a heartbreaking defeat.
