Greene Central (25-0) extended their postseason success on Friday in the 4th round of the 2A NCHSAA playoffs with a close 1-0 shutout against the Midway Raiders (20-6), maintaining their perfect season record after 25 games.

Senior pitcher Braden Burress was exceptional, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 10 batters to keep Midway scoreless. Burress has been a model of consistency on the mound, not giving up more than 2 walks in his last 8 appearances. Pitching isn't Burress only strong point, proving this with a batting average of .613, an on base percentage of .707, a fielding percentage of .962, and a slugging percentage of .960.

For Midway, senior slugger John McLamb delivered a strong performance, pitching 8.1 innings, giving up just 1 earned run on 3 hits, and striking out 7 batters. Although Midway suffered a tough loss, Mclamb will end his season with an impressive batting average of .392, an on base percentage of .562, a .899 fielding percentage, and the cherry on top finishing with 28 RBI's.

This victory marked Greene Central's 14th consecutive home win, boosting their record to an impeccable 25-0. Meanwhile, Midway's loss snapped their 3 game away winning streak, dropping their record to 20-6.

Currently, fanc cant wait to see Green Central face off against number 2 seed Whiteville on Tuesday. Unfortunately for Midway, their season is over.
