In anticipation of the upcoming competition against the Cougars, Patriots Coach Amanda Jardina (Larry) expressed:

“The second time through the conference is going to be tough, but I think the girls are up for the challenge. We come back from break to play a strong Catholic team, which ended up being a battle the first time. Hopefully, it’s just as competitive and our girls step up offensively to compete with a team that’s been putting up quite a few runs against solid opponents."

In the first matchup, Charlotte Catholic's Madden Glossner earned the well-deserved title of player of the game for the Cougars, delivering an outstanding performance during a fierce battle against the Patriots. Glossner showcased impeccable batting skills, going 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and a home run, batting a perfect 1000 for the game.

The Patriots demonstrated their prowess at the plate, securing a victory for the night. Seven Hope (Jr) achieved a .500 batting average, going 2 for 4 and adding 1 RBI to the team's success.

The Cougars have heavily relied on their juniors, notably solo pitcher Maliyah Alexander, who has been instrumental in their wins. In the first victory against the Charlotte Catholic Cougars, Alexander pitched 7 innings and recorded 7 strikeouts. Additionally, Alexander contributed offensively with 1 RBI, going 1 for 3 in the game. With 87 strikeouts, Alexander currently ranks 27th in the state for the season.

“Without her work ethic and fighter mentality, the start of our season would have been a completely different story” - Patriots Coach Jardina

Patriots Coach Jardina reflected on the progress of the Independence ladies this season, acknowledging their growth and success.

“We've had some solid team wins and a few tough losses so far this season, but as a team we are continuing to grow and focus on getting 1% better every day."

Tuesday will be an exciting matchup for the Patriots and Cougars as they enter the second half of their season. The game will be held at Charlotte Catholic at 5:00 PM.
