Luka Rumora Gives Laney A Chance

In a crucial 1st round playoff matchup, Laney (9-13) stepped up to the plate and secured a narrow 6-5 victory over the Wakefield Wolverines (18-9) on Tuesday, ending their 3 game losing streak.

Senior pitcher Luka Rumora delivered a solid performance, tossing 1.1 innings without conceding any earned runs or hits. Freshman superstar Carston Wedemeyer stood out on the hitting front for Laney, scoring 2 runs and reaching base in 3 of his 4 plate appearances. The freshman has been nothing short of amazing this season with a batting average of .423, an on base percentage of .538, and a fielding percentage of 1.000.

Despite the loss, Wakefield's junior Eliott Gross put on an impressive batting display, going 2-for-2 with 2 RBI's.

With this win, Laney improved their record to 9-13, while Wakefield suffered their second consecutive loss, bringing their season record to 18-9.
