Kiker Homer, Gibbs & Joesy too much for the Crusaders

Josey strong outing assisted by Kiker homer and Gibbs relief lift Metrolina to 5-0.

On the first beautiful day of "almost" spring, the Metolina Warriors turned to freshman Bryson Josey to extend their undefeated season. Josey didn't disappoint, tossing 5.1 solid innings before being relieved by ace Case Gibbs. Gibbs came on in relief after the Crusaders jumped on top 2-1 with one out in the top of the 6th. That was the beginning of the end for Christ the King as Gibbs retired five out of six batters he faced via strikeout.

Chase Kiker got up with the Warriors needing some offense and he delivered in a big way. Kiker had this to say about his game-tying home run...

"Nobody was on base the batter before me hit a ground ball to 2 base but when I stepped in, I was just singing a song, and the first pitch was a fastball low for a ball, then next pitch, I saw fastball out of the hand and I just took my swing at it and I didn't miss it. There were 2 outs, and it was a game-tying bomb"

After the homer the momentum had swung and Metrolina tacked on the winning run in the bottom of the 7th when Neil Griffin walked forcing in the tying run.

The Warriors hit the road on Tuesday when they face off against Charlotte Country Day. The Buccaneers are 0-1 after falling to Charlotte Catholic 8-0 in their opener.
