Face South Central Next Weekend in 3A State Finals
In a decisive Game 3 of the regional series, the East Rowan Mustangs triumphed over Tuscola with a 6-3 victory.
East Rowan's lineup proved formidable from the start. Braden Shive and Cobb Hightower both singled with one out in the bottom of the first inning, setting the stage for Harrison Ailshie, who blasted the second pitch he saw over the right-field wall, giving the Mustangs a lead they would never relinquish.
The Mustangs' offense continued to shine as the game progressed. In the third inning, Hightower doubled to left field, and Ailshie brought him home with a single to center. McCall Henderson then delivered a two-run hit to right field, pushing the score to 6-2.
On the mound, Joe Burleyson capped off a phenomenal night, allowing just three runs on three hits. At one point, Burleyson forced 18 consecutive batters to return to the dugout without a hit, showcasing his pitching strengths.Â
Next weekend, the Mustangs will face South Central in the 3A title series. Stay tuned for more exciting action as the 2024 NCHSAA State Baseball Championships continue.
