New Hanover Edges Panther Creek

On Friday, the New Hanover Wildcats continued their remarkable postseason run, narrowly defeating the Panther Creek Catamounts with a final score of 63-61. The Wildcats (31-0) have dominated the season with an impressive display of skill. Sitting atop the 4A East Conference rankings and holding the 7th position in North Carolina, the Wildcats are maintaining their winning streak in the 2024 NCHSAA Men’s Championships playoffs.

Against Panther Creek, the Wildcats were led by standout performances from junior Rodmik Allen, who tallied 15 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds, and freshman Kam Witherspoon, who contributed 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Allen has just recently reached the 1000 point milestone that all high school hoopers hope to achieve. Allen has been a standout performer, averaging 17.4 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game.

After reaching this accomplishment Allen had a few words to share.

"Thank you to my teammates, coaches, and fans. None of this would be possible without any of you, but we aren't finished yet, this is just the beginning".

His hard work was credited by a D1 offer from the college of Charleston.

Another player to keep an eye on is junior Nolan Billings, who consistently contributes 12.6 points per game along with 7.4 rebounds.
