North Davidson Remains Victorious

First Round of The 3A NCHSAA Playoffs

North Davidson (17-6) effortlessly carried their regular season success into the first round of the 3A NCHSAA playoffs with a convincing 5-1 victory over the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans (12-15) on Thursday. This marked their fourth consecutive win.


Despite the loss, Northwest Cabarrus showcased their depth with 7 players recording at least 1 hit, including Sophomore Ben Able, who went 1-for-2 with a double. Able has been on a roll this season, averaging a .888 fielding percentage, a .329 batting average, and an on base percentage of .478



North Davidson's recent form has been exceptional, winning 11 of their last 12 games and boosting their season record to an impressive 17-6. Conversely, Northwest Cabarrus suffered their second consecutive loss, dropping their season record to 12-15.



Next up, North Davidson faces a formidable challenge against Kings Mountain on Friday. Both teams boast strong defensive records, with Kings Mountain allowing an average of 2.9 runs per game and North Davidson close behind at 2.8. It promises to be a tightly contested matchup where every run will be hard-earned. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their season has sadly came to an end.
