Panthers Dominate Rebels

The Northside-Pinetown Panthers took down the North Duplin Rebels on Friday with a decisive 12-5 victory. The Panthers came out swinging, racking up nine runs in the first four innings. The Rebels mounted a comeback in the 4th and 5th innings, putting five runs on the board, but the Panthers' defense shut them down in the final two innings.

Senior Isabella Boykin shined on the mound, pitching for two innings and racking up five strikeouts in that short span. Boykin also made her presence felt at the plate, driving in two runs and scoring twice, including a crowd-pleasing home run that solidified the Panthers' commanding lead.

Jordan Clark, another senior standout, went 3-for-4, scored three runs, and drove in four more, including a home run and a double, showcasing her offensive prowess.

Despite the loss, North Duplin had notable performances. Reece Outlaw went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs, continuing her streak of three-hit games to six straight. Marissa Bernal also contributed, scoring two runs and going 1-for-3.

With this victory, the Northside-Pinetown Panthers have secured their spot in the 2024 NCHSAA Softball State Regionals, set to take place this week.
