Addi Benton’s contributions were crucial, both on the mound and at bat. She struck out seven batters in five innings and scored a run while stealing a base, finishing 1-for-3. Benton was named Charlotte Observer Athlete of the Week and the title is very fitting. So far this season Benton has 23 RBI, 62 K, and is batting .483 with 3 home runs. The Stallions are stronger with Benton on the roster.

Taking in the honor, Benton expressed:

“Being athlete of the week is a great accomplishment; I will never fail to remind myself that somewhere between the athlete, hours of practice, coaches who have pushed me, is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back.”

The Stallions continued their winning streak when they defeated Langtree Charter on Monday with a final score of 20-7. A standout performance during the Stallions victory was sophomore Harmony Hernandez who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

The Stallions have shown a strong commitment to improvement and winning games this season, clearly embodying a growth mindset. Coach Don Nicholas reflected on their recent achievements stating:

"Our team's motto this season, displayed on every player and coach's shirt, is OWN IT. This motto emphasizes taking accountability for one's actions, choices, and decisions both on and off the field."

Queens Grant will play at home on Wednesday against Christ the King at 4:30 p.m.
