Salo and the Pirates Sail into 2nd Round of Playoffs

The Porter Ridge Pirates (15-4) dominated the Mallard Creek Mavericks with a commanding 10-0 victory in the 1st round of the 2024 NCHSAA Softball State Championship playoffs.

Natalya Salo continued her stellar season with a phenomenal performance, notching 17 strikeouts on the mound and going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, driving in two crucial runs for the Pirates. Salo's pitching prowess was on full display as she dominated for 6 innings, racking up 17 strikeouts and contributing significantly to the team's triumph. With 182 strikeouts and 14 wins under her belt this season, Salo has showcased her exceptional talent on the mound.

Brooklyn Green also made her mark in the game, driving in 3 RBIs and going 2-for-4 against the Mavericks. Green's offensive contributions, including a run scored and a double, highlighted her effectiveness in pivotal moments.

The Pirates' resounding victory propels them forward in the playoffs, setting up a matchup against the winner of the Reagan versus Watauga game in the next round.
