South Point (18-2-2) continued their impressive postseason run on Tuesday with a dramatic victory over North Davidson (21-3). Despite the 1-1 tie at the end of regulation, the South Point Red Raiders emerged victorious in the shootout, outscoring the North Davidson Black Knights 7-6. This win extended South Point's remarkable streak to 17 consecutive victories.
Junior Hannah Thovtrup was the hero of the match, scoring the crucial goal that brought her season total to 3. This win marked South Point's 7th straight victory on the road, improving their overall record to 18-2-2. On the other hand, North Davidson's defeat snapped their 6 game home winning streak, leaving them with a record of 21-3.
Another junior to look out for is Phoebe Smith, she's become electric this year totaling 18 goals, and 14 assist while averaging 1 goal and 1 assist per game.
Looking ahead, South Point will face another tough challenge on Saturday as they travel to Jacksonville for a 2:30 p.m. match. Jacksonville, currently on a 10 game winning streak, will be aiming for their 11th consecutive victory, but South Point is determined to keep their own streak alive. Meanwhile, North Davidson's season has come to an end, with no further games scheduled.
