Secured Conference Championship Title against Union Academy

South Stanly bounced back from a recent loss to Mount Pleasant with a vengeance on Wednesday, as the Rowdy Rebel Bulls roared to a thrilling 15-12 victory over the Tigers, denying them any sense of satisfaction.

Coach David Poplin highlighted the pivotal role of Gaston College commit Mary Ryan Hinson, whose leadoff home run set the tone for the evening saying “where she goes we go” acknowledging the profound impact Hinson has on the team and overall, the game.  Hinson's offensive prowess continued throughout the game, going 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, contributing significantly to the Bulls' triumphant performance. With a season slash line of .439/.522/1.500 and 17 RBIs, Hinson's consistency and power at the plate have been instrumental for South Stanly.


Poplin also praised sophomore catcher Piper Huneycutt for her adaptability and standout plays, acknowledging the challenges of playing on different surfaces and Huneycutt's ability to adjust seamlessly, making crucial contributions behind the plate.


Pitcher and versatile player Kinsley Tyson also earned accolades for her impressive performance. Tyson showcased her skills on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings and limiting Mount Pleasant to just one earned run off four hits. Offensively, Tyson was unstoppable, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs, three runs, and two doubles, further solidifying her impact on the game.



Despite the loss, Mount Pleasant's Caylin Herring and Kylah Shifflett made significant contributions, with Herring going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs, while Shifflett added a 2-for-4 performance with four RBIs, two runs, and two doubles, showcasing their offensive prowess despite the final score.


The Rowdy Rebel Bulls clinched a hard-fought victory against Union Academy on Friday, edging out a close 4-3 win that propelled them to claim the prestigious Yadkin Valley Conference Tournament Championship title. In recognition of their stellar performances throughout the season and in the tournament, Jane Lee, Kinsley Tyson, Mary Ryan Hinson, and Cassidy Smith were honored with all-conference recognition, underscoring their contributions to the Bulls' success on the diamond.
