Southwestern Randolph Ends Their Season With A State Championship

After a streak of 9 wins, Midway's (21-4) luck ran out on Saturday, as they narrowly let the state championship slip out of their fingers against Southwestern Randolph Cougars (22-7) when the final score read 3-2.


Midway had contributions from 6 different players who each recorded at least 1 hit. Among them was senior Tamia Gwynn, who went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Sophomore Peyton Herring and junior Eva Mclamb were the two players responsible for Midways runs.



For Southwestern Randolph, Macie Crutchfield pitched all 7 innings, allowing just 2 earned runs on 6 hits and striking out 10. Crutchfield has been consistently reliable, recording at least 5 strikeouts in each of her last 16 appearances.



Midway's loss brought their record to 21-4. Meanwhile, Southwestern Randolph improved to 22-7 with their win, marking their 6th consecutive home victory.
