Stogner Grand Slam Secures Victory

Lake Norman Defeated 8-7

In a thrilling showdown at Wake Forest during the first round of the 2024 NCHSAA 4A baseball playoffs, the Reagan Raiders clashed with the Lake Norman Wildcats in a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

With the Wildcats holding a 7-4 lead in the bottom of the 7th, it seemed victory was within their grasp. But as tension peaked with bases loaded and a 3-2 count, Charlie Stogner of the Raiders delivered a game-changing walk-off grand slam, sealing an 8-7 victory and keeping Reagan's season alive.

Despite the heartbreak for Lake Norman, their players put up a strong fight in this closely contested battle. Gabe Gutter showcased his skill with two runs scored and a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Carson Cherry added to the Wildcats' effort by scoring two runs, stealing a base, and reaching base twice in four plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Reagan prepares to defend their home turf against Asheville at 7:00 p.m. this Friday, ready to build on the momentum from this dramatic win.
