Second Round Of The 3A NCHSAA Playoffs

Terry Sanford (24-5) effortlessly dominated the Williams Bulldogs (18-6) in the second round of the 2024 3A NCHSAA playoffs with a 19-3 victory on Friday, marking their 15th win by 6 runs or more this season.


Junior Ethan Nobles, showcased his versatility both on the mound and at the plate, pitching an inning without conceding any earned runs and scoring 3 runs while going 3-for-4. Sophomore pitcher Jack Reaves also delivered a solid performance, pitching an inning without allowing any earned runs.



Offensively, senior Brent Smith and junior Benny Whiteaker stood out for Terry Sanford. Smith reached base in all 4 of his plate appearances, hitting a home run, tallying 5 RBI, and scoring 2 runs, while Whiteaker went 2-for-3 with 5 RBI, 2 runs, and a double.


Despite the loss, Williams saw contributions from multiple players, including junior Dan Mahan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.



With this win, Terry Sanford extended their winning streak to 11 games, bringing their record to an impressive 24-5. Conversely, Williams' record dropped to 18-6 following the defeat.


Next up, Terry Sanford will face Orange at home on Tuesday, aiming to maintain their 8 game home winning streak. As for Williams, good luck next season.
