Watauga (15-6), who is ranked 2nd in the NorthWestern 3A/4A conference ,secured a hard-fought victory on Thursday against the West Wilkes Blackhawks (13-10). Clinching a 4-3 win after 8 intense innings. This marked their 2nd consecutive win, adding to their recent momentum.
Sophomore Evan Burroughs and senior Jake Henderson were instrumental for Watauga, dominating the outfield. Burroughs showcased his speed with 2 runs and 2 stolen bases, going 1-for-3 at the plate. Meanwhile, Henderson contributed significantly with a double, 3 RBIs, and a 1-for-3 performance. Currently Burroughs is dominating with a batting average of .359, a fielding percentage of .944, and an on base percentage of .316. Henderson is right there with him with a batting average of .226, a fielding percentage of 1.000, and an on base percentage of .413
Watauga's recent form has been impressive, winning 5 of their last 6 games and enhancing their season record to 15-6. Conversely, the defeat halted West Wilkes' 3 game streak of away wins, bringing their record to 13-10.
