Freshman Savannah Callis Is Outstanding

Willow Spring (15-3) who is ranked 1st in the Greater Neuse River 4A Conference, notched their 11th blowout win of the season on Friday, defeating the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs (0-10) with a convincing 16-1 victory. The victory marked the Willow Spring's 6th consecutive win.



Freshman leader Savannah Callis was a standout performer, both on the mound and at the plate. She pitched 2 solid innings, allowing just 1 earned run with no hits. Callis has been a reliable presence on the mound, conceding no more than 1 earned run in 3 consecutive pitching appearances. Additionally, she contributed with the bat, going 1-for-1 with a triple, 2 RBI, and a run.


Sophomore, Carly Simon played a crucial role in Willow Spring's victory, scoring 4 runs and stealing 2 bases while going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Emily Saw who is a senior, also made an impact, scoring 2 runs and stealing a base while getting on base in 3 of her 4 plate appearances.



With this win, Willow Spring extended their winning streak to 6 games and improved their season record to an impressive 15-3. Meanwhile, Southeast Raleigh is struggling, having lost their last 10 games, bringing their record to 1-14.


Willow Spring will play host to South Garner at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, looking to continue their winning streak. The team has been strong offensively, averaging 9.4 runs per game this season. On the other hand, Southeast Raleigh will hit the road to face Fuquay-Varina at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
