Rematch on Wednesday; Hopes to Maintain Conference Lead

In a thrilling matchup on Tuesday, the East Carteret Mariners triumphed over the Northside-Pinetown Panthers with a final score of 2-1. The Mariners, with a solid 9-9 overall record, are dominating the Coastal Plains 1A/2A conference with a perfect 7-0 record, showcasing their prowess on the field.

Reflecting on the season, Coach Jessica Ball stated “The girls have grown so much this season, and we knew that the hardest battles would be coming during these final 2 weeks of the season. Last night we played Northside Pinetown, who is currently #2 in the 1A east and walked it off in the 7th to remain undefeated. It was pretty incredible.”

Pitcher Amilya Lewis demonstrated her pitching mastery, holding the Panthers to just one unearned run on five hits throughout the full seven innings. Lewis has been a rock for the Mariners, maintaining an impressive streak of eight consecutive pitching appearances without yielding more than two walks.

On the offensive front, East Carteret's victory was a collective effort, with four players contributing hits. Standout performer Emmie Gillikin went 2-for-4, scoring a crucial run to secure the Mariners' victory.

The Mariners are gearing up for another showdown on Wednesday as they face off against the Panthers once again, promising another intense battle on the diamond.
