Avery Modlin Is Untouchable

In what's become a running theme this season, Enloe (9-6)secured another impressive victory on Monday, defeating the Broughton Capitals (6-9) with a solid 8-2 win. The win marked back-to-back victories for Enloe.

Freshman powerhouse Avery Modlin was a standout performer, both on the mound and at the plate. She pitched a stellar game, striking out 12 batters over 7 innings while conceding just 1 earned run off 4 hits. Modlin has been consistently strong, recording no less than 5 strikeouts in her last 13 pitching appearances. Additionally, she contributed offensively, scoring 2 runs and stealing 2 bases while going 1-for-3. While only being a freshman, Modlin has managed to rack up some impressive stats including a .222 batting average, 8 RBI's, 20 runs, and an on base percentage of .397.

Senior Ruth Rick had an outstanding game, hitting 2 home runs and getting on base in all 4 of her plate appearances. This game for Rick was not surprising considering she averages a .341 batting average, .918 fielding percentage, and an on base percentage of .400. Sophmore Madison Haga also made a significant impact, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base, 2 RBI, and a double.

Enloe's victory put an end to a 4 game losing streak on the road, improving their record to 9-6. On the other hand, Broughton has struggled recently, losing 6 of their last 8 games, which dropped their season record to 6-9.

Enloe will have an opportunity to face Broughton again in their next game, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, offering a chance for another back-to-back victory.
