Landon Roberts Continues to Shine
Morehead (21-1) is currently ranked 26th in the state, 1st in the Mid-State 2A conference and 2nd in the County Sports Power Ranking's. They proved themselves worthy of these titles on Friday with their win over North Forsyth (0-15). With this win, Morehead achieved their 16th landslide victory of the season beating the vikings 15-0. This dominant performance marks back-to-back victories for Morehead.
Senior standout Landon Roberts played a crucial role both on the mound and at bat. He struck out 6 batters over 2 innings, allowing no earned runs on just 1 hit, and no walks. Roberts also made an impact offensively, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. This game was just like any other for Roberts considering he has a batting average of .351, a fielding percentage of .991, and an on base percentage of .537.
The two seniors Anderson Nance and Carson Moore led Morehead's offense, with Nance scoring 3 runs and stealing 2 bases while going 2-for-2, and Moore contributing a 2-for-3 performance with 5 RBI, 3 runs, and a double. Another senior to look out for is Briar Woods who also made significant contributions, scoring 3 runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all 3 of his plate appearances.
The victory boosted Morehead's record to an impressive 21-1, while North Forsyth continues to seek their first win of the season, dropping to 0-15.
As of now, Morehead does not have any further games scheduled. Meanwhile, North Forsyth will hit the road again on Monday to face West Stokes at 7:00 p.m. West Stokes will be aiming for their 6th consecutive victory, but North Forsyth will undoubtedly put up a fight.
