Looking Forward to Playoffs

In a stunning upset of the week, Myers Park (14-4), now ranked 22nd in the state and sitting at the top of their conference, delivered a resounding victory over Cox Mill (14-3), previously ranked 9th in the state, on Wednesday evening with a commanding 12-4 scoreline.

The standout performances for Myers Park were aplenty, starting with their sophomore pitcher, Rodney Dunham, who delivered a stellar performance over 4 innings, limiting the Chargers to just 1 earned run before being relieved for the evening. Despite a rotation of pitchers throughout the game, Cox Mill's offense struggled to find answers against the dominant pitching of the Mustangs. Sophomore John Person sealed the deal for Myers Park with 5 strikeouts, including the final one that ended the game, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Reflecting on the game and the impressive performances of his pitchers, Myers Park Coach Erik Foor praised Dunham's standout performance, emphasizing the importance of finding the right formula as they approach the end of the season, conference championships, and playoffs.

“Rodney Dunham was definitely a stand out player tonight. That was a really quality outing for him. We’re trying to find what’s going to click for us going towards the end of the season, conference championship, and playoffs. So I got two guys that I rely on but this was a big game and a big test to send him out there and he did a fantastic job.” - Myers Park Coach Erik Foor

Offensively, the Mustangs were firing on all cylinders. Senior Samuel Barber went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI, playing a pivotal role in maintaining the team's strong lead over the Chargers. Junior third baseman William Washburn also shined, delivering a "phenomenal job" on defense and contributing at the plate with a 1-for-1 performance, earning 3 runs, and adding 1 RBI to the scoreboard.
