In a clash of conference leaders, the Burns Bulldogs (22-0) asserted their dominance with an 8-3 victory over the Draughn Wildcats (15-4) on Wednesday. This high-stakes matchup featured two powerhouse teams, with Draughn leading the Western Highlands 1A/2A conference and Burns sitting atop the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A conference.

In a display of championship grit, the Bulldogs leaned on Colby Putnam and Jackson Toney to secure an impressive 8-3 victory over Draughn. The offensive fireworks ignited early as Toney and Marshall McGowan launched homers in the first inning, setting the tone for Burns. McGowan continued his onslaught with another homer in the second, cementing the lead for his team.

The game saw a flurry of action, with a wild pitch and a miscued return throw aiding Draughn's early 2-0 lead. However, Burns quickly responded with a homer-fueled surge, taking a commanding 5-2 lead after two innings.
